Panama Canal #2

         This political cartoon is about yet again how Theodore Roosevelt was going to get Panama no matter what (this can be seen in the cartoon because he is ignoring everything such as international law and Colombian protests). The cartoonists message on the issue is that Roosevelt is so crazy for Panama he is breaking laws and ignoring countries which is unethical and impractical. Other opinions I imagine another person might have on the issue is that we need to get Panama no matter what because it necessary for the strength of the United States. The techniques the cartoonist used to make thee cartoon persuasive was Labeling and Symbolism. Labeling due to the wagon saying Panama or Bust and bags being run over by the wagon stating things Roosevelt is ignoring such as Colombia and Treaties. Symbolism due to the fact that the elephant drawing the wagon represents the Republican party.

Open Door Policy           This political cartoons issue is about how when China finally opened its doors to other countries everyone began fighting to have it as a sphere of influence (which can be seen as the other countries have scissors and are ready to cut a piece of China for themselves). Due to all of these other countries the United States made the Open Door Policy to stop countries from having monopoly trades with China. The cartoonist's message on the issue is that America was really in control of the other countries spheres of influence. Other opinions I can imagine another person might have is that it was not the United  States place to dictate or control the other countries in China. Roosevelt Corollary

Roosevelt Corollary         This political cartoon's issue is about how the Roosevelt Corollary was a stronger version of the Monroe Doctrine (which can be seen by the cannon with the sign Monroe Doctrine on it) The Roosevelt Corollary basically made the United States the policeman of the western hemisphere ( seen by Roosevelt defending Santo Domingo from a European country in the cartoon). The cartoonist's message on the issue is that Europe will have no chance of getting involved with the western hemisphere while the United States is around. Some other opinions another person may have on the issue is that the United States has no right to just say that European countries can't get involved with the western hemisphere. The techniques the cartoonist used to make this cartoon persuasive was Labeling and Symbolism. Roosevelt Corollary #2         This political cartoon's issue is about how European countries still had loose ends in the western hemisphere but Theodore Roosevelt was preventing them from tying it up. (this can been seen on the ships such as debt collector being pulled away by Roosevelt). The cartoonist's message is that no matter what is it Roosevelt doesn't want European countries in the western hemisphere or he will use his "big stick" which can be seen in his hand. Other opinions another person might have is that Roosevelt should let them tie up the loose ends so we do not have to deal with them anymore. The techniques the cartoonist used to make the cartoon persuasive are Exaggeration and Labeling. Exaggeration due to the fact that Teddy Roosevelt is practically a giant.
